We did it!
Monday 20th May 2024A huge thank you to all our sponsors, by the time all the money is in well hopefully reach £300, smashing the target of £250.
Had a great day out, covered almost 100 miles, just a shame it wasn't hot and sunny like yesterday.
Unfortunately Karen is now refusing to ever get on the bike again. Apparently every part of her body aches. I have to agree that the Harley pillion 'perch' doesn't look the most comfortable I've ever seen. I suggested buying an additional bike with a better seat, anything to keep the peace but apparently that's not the preferred option!
Karen’s ready for the ride!
Monday 6th May 2024After trying out a few different combinations of waistcoat and jackets, this was the final choice.
Naturally, Daisy wanted to be in the photos!
Karen has agreed to ride pillion!
Wednesday 1st May 2024If I was to say Karen is not a bike fan, it could well be the biggest understatement of the millenium but she has offered to accompany me on the DGR in Newcastle.
99% of her motive must be to raise money and awareness of how important the issue of men's health is but I've a nagging suspicion that 1% of her reason is to stop the kilt bellowing up in the slipstream, frightening innocent bystanders and me ending up in jail!
Either way, I'm so proud of her joining me on the run, when I know she'll be hating almost every minute of it.
But that shows her commitment and the type of person she is.
Thank you darling!
Dappered up!
Wednesday 1st May 2024After a lovely ride around Weardale, on the first decent sunny and warm day of the year, it was time to get the kilt out of the wardrobe and get serious about the DGR.
Strangely enough, it seems to have shrunk slightly while in storage!
After a bit of struggle with the buckles it was on, and I was getting flashbacks to my wedding day at Raven Hall, Ravenscar.
Then, on the way to the bike for the photos, there was almost a Marilyn Monro moment on the front step, which could have been much worse if there was a bus passing! I fully understand why the Queen had lead weight in her skirt hem.
Being dapper in Highland dress while riding a Harley may be more difficult than I thought!
I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride
Friday 19th Apr 2024 On Sunday the 19th of May 2024, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives. My Sponsors
