The Ones Who Need It Most

I just got a letter from Movember and Mark Hawwa of the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with my fundraising pins that had some really amazing news in it. Thanks in large part to the money the DGR raises, they’ve been able to launch the Veterans and First Responders Program, which is “focused on initiatives specifically for firefighters, paramedics, police officers, and military veterans, all of whom are disproportionately affected by poor mental health.” And friends, I cried. Being a Global Ambassador this year, and knowing the work is going to the heart of why I ride—I’m just really grateful to be a part of it, and grateful to have so much support from friends and family and strangers on this journey.

My dear friend Clinton, with me here in NYC in our early 20s, was a brilliant photographer, the best party +1, a wonderful father, and a dedicated firefighter.

My handsome uncle Eric was a wacky goofball, a lifelong motorcyclist, a devoted father and uncle, and an Air Force veteran.

We lost them both too soon.

Help Me Help Them

A little bit about why this cause matters so much to me: A family history of cancer and mental health issues & addiction has been paralleled by a generational love for motorcycles. We lost my uncle, a lifelong motorcyclist, to suicide in 2018—that's him between my twin brother and me during the summer we learned how to ride—followed by his son by the same means not very long after. I've dedicated all of my rides since their passings to them and another dear friend I lost to suicide, in the hopes that I can be a part of the ending of the epidemic. 

Men are more than twice as likely to seek help and treatment when encouraged by the women in their lives—and by serving as a Global Ambassador and a top fundraiser, I hope to be an even louder voice of encouragement to men everywhere. And also to raise a f*$#@ ton of money for this incredible cause, with your help.

I am beyong honored that yours truly has been asked to serve as a Global Ambassor for this year's Gentleman's Ride! 

Over half a million riders take part in this event each year in 900 cities around the world so it's a huge honor, and as the only woman in the western hemisphere to be chosen, it's even cooler. As a female motorcyclist who has spent decades advocating for women's voices in such a male-dominated space, I am thrilled to be seen and recognized. 

Additionally, I'm the Bay Area's first ever Ambassador, and I'm proud to represent our beautiful city, and hopefully help lead us to the top fundraising spot again this year! Let's goooooooo! 

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Tuesday 26th Mar 2024 On Sunday the 19th of May 2024, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
