why do we feel weird asking for money?
Friday 3rd May 2024I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels awkward as hell when you are trying to gather funds for a organization or a cause you believe in, it's strange isn't it? We've always been told money is the root of all evil people with money aren't happy, but as I get older, I realize that you can't accomplish much change or good without at least some money, And I'm becoming more comfortable with it but it's more of an internal struggle. I deal with a lot asking for money or just being OK with wanting more money to do things or to help causes I believe in. It's a weird internal struggle.
saw a hoodie
Monday 29th Apr 2024kinda just floating through my days, when out of the blue, my brother hits me up to go for a ride. No plan, no big occasion, just a "Hey, let's ride." To be honest, it felt a bit out of the blue and yeah, a little awkward—because, you know, it’s been a hot minute since we hung out just us.
But as we hit the road, man, it was like all the weird vibes just got left in the dust. The wind, the roads, our bikes side by side, it was chill and kind of awesome. I didn’t realize how much I needed that ride until we were out there, just cruising and laughing about dumb stuff.
I ran into this quote on a hoodie a while back. It went something like, “If you’re reading this, you’re loved. Feeling alone and invisible sucks, but you being here, that’s a big deal to someone, for sure. So keep on and be kind to yourself, alright?” That hit me right in the feels. It’s kinda like what that ride with my brother was about without getting all mushy about it.
Riding, especially when you’re sharing it, has this cool way of cutting through the noise. It's more than just the bikes—it’s feeling part of something bigger, like this giant family of people who get it.
So if you’re feeling like you’re on your own out there, think about that hoodie message. Maybe hit up someone for a ride, or just to hang. It could be awkward at first, but it's worth it. Because behind the helmets and the leather, we’re all looking for that nod, that “You’re not riding alone.”
Here’s to the roads we ride and the unspoken bond between us riders. Let’s keep the wheels rolling and always be there to join up for another ride. Because nobody should ever ride life solo.
riding together: motorcycles and mental health
Thursday 18th Apr 2024
It’s been a journey, to say the least. Feeling out of place had kind of become my norm—whether with friends or family, I always felt like I was on the outside looking in. That all started to change about six years ago when I got my first motorcycle. Suddenly, I was part of something bigger. Every wave from a fellow rider and every "cool bike" comment I got just reaffirmed my decision to stick with this community.
Mental health has been on my mind a lot, especially these last three years. It's been tough for a lot of us, and that’s why riding in the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride again this year feels more crucial than ever. The ride’s focus on mental health speaks volumes to me because nobody should have to face their struggles alone. This is something we need to look out for in each other, no matter who you are.
At first, I thought my feeling of isolation was because I didn’t fit in anywhere. But what I’ve learned—especially through my involvement with DGR—is that I was welcome in more places than I realized. This ride, this group, it’s shown me that over and over again.
So here I am, in my second year, ready to support these amazing charities again because they do incredible work and have helped me find my crew. Plus, cruising with a bunch of cool motorcycles never gets old, right?
This ride isn’t just about motorcycles; it’s about pushing forward a cause that affects so many of us. It’s about community, understanding, and support. So let’s roll out together for this great cause, keep the conversation going, and make a difference.
