Something about the bike..........
Saturday 19th Apr 2025One for the motorcycle enthusiasts...... This is the bike I'll be riding on 18th May. This is a 1996 Yamaha XVZ1300 Royal Star. This particular bike was imported from the USA (where Yamaha manufactured them) in 2020. It has a V-four engine which, according to internet wisdom, was originally designed by Porsche for Harley Davidson. HD didn't take it forward into a full bike design so Yamaha bought the engine design and created the Royal Star around it. Since then, they developed the motor further, reducing the capacity a little and increasing the power output for installation in the V-Max. As you can see, the bike is quite large at 305Kg, much of which comprises a fair proportion of the world's chromium ! Looking forward to riding with other great bikes on the 18th.
And thanks again to all my sponsors and to all those giving me essential style tips !

To all my sponsors (thus far).....
Friday 11th Apr 2025Just a huge thank you to all my sponsors. I'm blown away by your generosity and the depth of feeling that clearly exists for men's health. With your help I've passed my initial fundraising target and now, more than ever, each additional donation is a bonus.
I don't often ride the Royal Star, so I'm taking it out this weekend just to be sure that everything is perfect for the ride. I'll try to take a picture or two and upload them for my next blog post. I'll also post a few details of the bike for any motorcycle enthusiasts that might be reading this. As a start, I'll tell you that the Royal Star is an American bike, by a Japanese maker using a German designed engine.
Stay Dapper,
Phil
I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride
Saturday 5th Apr 2025 On Sunday the 18th of May 2025, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives. My Sponsors
