It's the little things.

Busy morning, like all other weekday mornings. Who doesn't have a million things on their mind with all of the tasks and responsibilities for the day?

It never fails. In the most unexpected way and in the most unexpected moment, something as simple as a sound will bring the freight train in my mind to a sudden halt and derail my thoughts to the last conversation I had with him, or the last time I saw him. 

Today it was a sound in an ad that brought me back to, of all places, the grocery store where I met with him for a few moments. I told him he needed to come see me and my family at the house because we hadn't had him at the dinner table in a long time. He gave me a hug and said he would text me to make plans. 

 

I never saw him again. If I had known that it would be the last time I would see him, I would have taken him with me, prepared a meal, and talked through the night as is the tradition in the family. I would have laughed hard with him, made sure he felt how much we needed him and encouraged him.

Can't have that moment back, but I sure wish I could.

It has forced me to see life in a different way. Every relationship is fragile, life is short, and I have to make every effort to make sure those around me know how important they are to me.

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Thursday 21st Mar 2024 On Sunday the 19th of May 2024, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
