Ride with me

2023 was a big year, things happened that were not expected. The loss of loved ones had a profound effect on me, it made me think about life and death, how it affects us all at some point in our lives. Death is inevitable, but we go through life not thinking too much about it until it happens. 

So too does our health and how we go about life. In February 2023 I had to undergo surgery for a prostate problem. I was not expecting it. I had been diagnosed with a blockage that was causing me issues, but I let didn't think it was serious until the urologyist said I needed an operation and in only 2 weeks I was in hospital. I was not prepared for the urgency of it all, but he said you are still young and don't want to have complications later in life or worse. 

Since then I have had some other medical issues that have kick started my drive to get healthier, not that I was unhealthy but it made me determined to get the most from life, do things now rather than wait. 

I guess what i'm saying is don't wait to get checked if you have some niggling health issues, go see your doctor and get sorted. This year I'm riding in the Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride, for the 6th time. I'll be on my 1960's Royal Enfield motorcycle, dressed up in my finest bag of fruit. You too can come along for the ride, by donating to fund research and programs for Men's mental health and prostate and testicular cancer. It's a great cause and one that can go a long way to help men get checked and live longer healthier lives.
