The ride continues on Sunday, June 2
Wednesday 29th May 2024Since beginning this year's fundraising and dedicating the ride to my friend Jim Kenefick, I have been learning of friends who also are dealing with the fallout from a prostate cancer diagnosis. I'll mention here Mark Scaglione, who is my stepsons' father and a model for dealing with such a diagnosis with humor and grace. Fortunately, his prognosis is very encouraging and the outlook good.
I also learned about how Kevin Boon--a friend I've managed to not keep in touch with well--has dealt with prostate cancer, a situation that has taught me that I had better get back to actually communicating with people rather than getting wrapped up in life's other daily worries that pale in comparison.
Such men show us how to move forward.
On Sunday, my bike--which is the one pictured on this site--will have a picture of Jim attached to it, along with a special medal that his wife and my friend, Janice, gave me. I promise to take a lot of pictures.
Riding for my friend, Jim Kenefick
Monday 22nd Apr 2024[The Tampa Bay ride has been postponed until Sunday, June 2, so that's when I'll be on the road.]
I will be riding for my friend, Jim Kenefick (the handsome one on the left), who is a warrior on his medical journey. This charity ride is a worldwide effort to raise funds for research and awareness for mental health and prostate cancer. (If you haven't visited Jim's Caring Bridge journal, go to https://www.caringbridge.org/ and search for "Jim Kenefick," then follow the prompts to register.)
If you are able to donate to the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride, you can do so right on this page.

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride
Wednesday 3rd Apr 2024On Sunday, June 2, 2024 [the date was postponed to this one because of possible rain], I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with other riders across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons.
The number of men who are suffering is growing--donating for this meaningful cause can help the men we love live happier and healthier lives.
