Why I'm riding

Friday 11th Apr 2025

My brother called me late on a Saturday and said "Dan, I've booked you on a ride for mens mental health. Wear a suit, grab your motorbike and I'll see you in Guildford in the morning".

He was like that, my brother. Whether it was climbing a mountain, sailing a boat or going on a bike ride for mens mental health, he would sign me up, and tell me to meet him there.

I Ioved that!

He was the me I would have liked to be. Version 2.0. No fear. No reservations, just grabbing life by the balls and going for it!

It turned out to be an amazing day. We met up with a load of other friends, randomly. This is always the best way.

We rode, we laughed, we ate and we smiled.

I hadn't spent a great deal of time with him in recent years due to someone making it difficult for us.

So needless to say, it made the day all the more important to both of us.

Little did I know, that six weeks later my brother would die in a senseless and tragic accident and this ride, would be the last thing we did together.

The last year has been horrendous. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Life has marched on, as it does, but he is gone and my world will never be the same.

So, this ride has incredible meaning to me. I feel I need to do it. Maybe it's my way of honouring him, saying goodbye and remembering him.

He was a leader of men and worked tirelessly supporting men in their lives and in their struggles.he took his own pain and used it to help others...and damn, he was good at it.

So. I'll ride for him, for all men and all those who have been lost.

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Friday 11th Apr 2025 On Sunday the 18th of May 2025, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
