Movember
Thursday 2nd May 2024I went to a Movember Speakeasy session held at SA1NT last night, not knowing what to expect.
What I experianced was just brilliant. Two very talented and genuine people gave them whole selves to a carefully guided deep dives into ourselves and each other, cared for us through the process and brought us out the other side as better people.
To see where our DGR fundraising goes, into programs such as this jwas just life affirming.
Thank you and well done Movember and the crew at Man Cave.

Riding for my father
Monday 29th Apr 2024That's dad - Gerald Ernest Overton, on his BSA Bantam 125 back in England in the 1960's.
I never knew my dad rode until he told me a few years ago, when his cancer treatment started.
Dad died on 22 September 2023 in The ONJ cancer centre at the Austin Hospital.
So I guess if I was riding in memory of anyone this year, it would be my cool cafe racer dad.
The dapper part
Tuesday 9th Apr 2024I quite like dressing up, having spent a few years in amateur theatre pulling on costumes and also being known in the steampunk subculture where dapper and brass go together.
This waistcoat is my regular DGR attire. It combines that bit of dapper with the traditional sleeveless patch carrier worn by bikers.
Only problem is - I think I have about another two years before I just can carry all the DGR patches that come out.
Either that - or put on weight and get a bigger waistcoat.
My ride
Sunday 24th Mar 2024I am a Honda CB450 tragic.
I love them for their stupidly long cam chains, their crazy torsion bar valve control set ups, and their cool cafe racer looks.
This year I am riding my CL450, that's the scrambler version with the sexy twin high pipes.
It is a fun little jigger, dead stock and staying that way, easy to ride and perfect for a distinguished pootle around Melbourne.
Now I just need to dress to match the Distinguished Scramble.
I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride
Sunday 24th Mar 2024 On Sunday the 19th of May 2024, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives. My Sponsors
