My 2024 DGR Dedication

Each year I dedicate my Distinguished Gentleman's Ride to a friend we've unfortunately lost. This year I'm dedicating my ride to Dave George - an important professional influence, a mentor, and most importantly a friend (to many). 

We first met in 1981 when I began my career as a sales trainee and Dave was in sales management. My career was positively impacted by Dave when he supported me as the choice for District Sales Manager in Portland and as General Manager at Falk Renew. 

I wasn't the first choice for either position but Dave (strongly) suggested that I be given the opportunity to prove myself. These two positions were the most rewarding during my time at Falk and I have Dave to thank for that. 

Dave and I didn't always agree. I think we had a base understanding that let us discuss tough issues and then decide how to proceed.

Once, during a particularly heated discussion about a large warranty issue at Falk, a colleague commented loudly about how I "acted just like Dave George". All I could say in response was "Thank You".

His importance to me as a professional mentor and personal friend will not be forgotten.

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

On Sunday the 19th of May 2024, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
