My Blog
That's a wrap, folks!
Wednesday 22nd May 2024The 2024 Distinguished Gentleman's Ride is in the books, and I can't thank everyone enough! The weather was fine and the spirits high, and we enjoyed seeing everyone in their dapper best astride their polished motorcycles for a day of festivities!
A big shout out to both our invividual sponsors for Sara and I, as well as our prize sponsors and all of the businesses that champtioned the start and end points for both the South Seattle and North Seattle routes. This is a big labor of love every year, and many hands makes light work! Looking forward to doing it again next year!
With much love and appreciation,
Andy & Sara
We're almost there!
Saturday 18th May 2024Three weeks to go, and we're feeling the mojo!
Thursday 2nd May 2024We’re rounding the inside of three weeks until we embark on our dapper motorcycle parade throughout Seattle with The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride on May 19th! It’s true, we’ll take just about any opportunity to visit the thrift store in search of classy duds. However, we love the DGR because it gives us a worthy cause to support while dressing in our Sunday best! Every year I set a goal to raise $1000 to promote the cause, and we’re already 30% there! Y’all wildly exceed our expectations every year, and for that we are so grateful. If it’s within your means, we’d love it if you’d be willing to donate any amount to support our ride, and in so doing help combat prostate cancer and men’s suicide.
Hugs and kisses,
Andy & Sara
Year Nine? Mighty fine!
Thursday 25th Apr 2024Do you hear? The gentle thrum of vintage motorcycles approaching in the distance? The smells of old tweed, motorcycle exhaust and mustache wax? Well that must mean Santa Clau... Err, The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is coming to town! That’s right, on May 19th 2024 we dress in our Sunday best and hop astride our motorcycles for a stately parade to fundraise for men’s mental health and prostate cancer worldwide!
Now I know what you’re thinking - “Andy, why is it that you emerge from your social media hole once a year and beg us for money, like a handsome panhandling groundhog?” Well let me rap with you, kids.
*Andy sits in his chair backwards like a cool high school teacher*
Every time I participate in The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride and promote causes which it funds, I get a broader picture of how many men are affected. There are a staggering amount of individuals that confide that they themselves have received a prostate cancer diagnosis, or know a close relation that has. Chances are that you won’t have to look far to find a man you love that is dealing with a prostate cancer diagnosis, or struggling with mental health. And let’s be real, just about all of us men are struggling in some way with mental health, including myself. By and large we’re all stubborn and think that we can internally solve all of our problems, just like myself. Check in on your loved ones and see how they’re doing, won’t you?
*Andy turns his chair around the right way and crosses his legs fancily*
Here is the part where I ask you for money! I’ve made the first sponsorship donation to my ride in order to show you I’m not a dapper windbag, and I’d love for you to consider donating to support our cause if you have the means. Over the last nine years of participating in this fundraiser, you’ve donated to the tune of $9,300 to further men’s health through sponsoring our ride. I cannot express my gratitude enough! You continue to wildly exceed my expectations when it comes to the generosity of my friends and family. Will you help us pass the $10,000 mark this year?
I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride
Wednesday 27th Mar 2024 On Sunday the 19th of May 2024, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives. My Sponsors
